Shopping, food and concerts at EM District

Emporium, EmQuartier and Emsphere make up EM District around Bangkok’s BTS Phrom Phong station. Emporium suits a focused department-store visit, EmQuartier combines shopping with Helix dining and garden space, and Emsphere brings food, IKEA and UOB Live into the same building. Choose one main reason to go before deciding how much of the district to explore.

Which of the three malls should you visit?

For a short visit, start with the centre that fits what you want to do. Emporium is a starting point for department-store and brand shopping. EmQuartier combines browsing with a meal, while Emsphere offers food areas, IKEA Sukhumvit and UOB Live. You can combine stops, but visiting all three is not necessary. If travelling as a family or group, agree on the meal or main activity first and leave shopping around it flexible.

Emporium for a focused shopping stop

Emporium brings department-store shopping and individual brands together, with a connection from the BTS station. It is a useful place to begin when you have particular purchases in mind. Check the current directory for the shop you need before adding another centre to the plan.

EmQuartier for browsing, dining and a garden pause

EmQuartier’s connected buildings give shopping and dining different settings within the same complex. The Helix brings restaurants into its curving upper levels, while the fifth-floor garden offers an outdoor pause between stops. The current directory can help you choose a restaurant and check booking details. The open courtyard and planted edges are part of the architecture, so allow for weather when planning time outside.

Emsphere for food, IKEA and an evening out

The Market Hall on the G and GM levels gives Emsphere a food-focused starting point. IKEA Sukhumvit is on the third floor, with its own store and restaurant hours. A meal and some browsing can be a plan in themselves. For a show evening, eat before the entry queue and leave time to reach the venue.

Going to a concert at UOB Live

UOB Live is at Emsphere, with the hall address on floor 6. The operator directs visitors to floor 5 for the box office and main entry, then floor 5M for security and bag checks. Follow the instructions for your particular show, including ticket collection and door times. Pack lightly. Venue guidelines restrict large bags and outside food and drink. Rental lockers are listed on floor 5M, but confirm size and availability before relying on them for luggage. The operator identifies the Orange Elevators as the preferred accessible route. Contact the venue about specific access needs.

Getting there and planning the journey home

BTS Phrom Phong serves the district. For UOB Live and Emsphere, the venue’s directions specify Exit 6 and the connecting skywalk. Use the name of the centre and, for a concert, the entry floor when meeting friends. Before the show, check the event’s timing and the last train with the transport operator if you plan to return by BTS. If taking a taxi or ride app, agree on a clear meeting point and allow for crowds leaving together. Shopping hours do not establish when a concert will finish or which transport will still be running.

One outing, with room to change the plan

A particular shop, a meal or a concert can give the day its shape. With children or several people travelling together, fewer planned stops leave more freedom to rest or head back when someone has had enough. Ekkamai and Thonglor offer a different setting for another day, with cafés and restaurants spread through smaller streets. Our neighbourhood guide covers those local stops separately from the three centres at Phrom Phong.

Useful questions

Should I visit Emporium, EmQuartier and Emsphere in one day?

You can combine them, but choose by interest and available time. Emporium is a starting point for department-store shopping, EmQuartier for browsing and Helix dining, and Emsphere for its food areas, IKEA or a UOB Live show. One main stop may be enough.

Where do I enter UOB Live at Emsphere?

The hall’s address is on floor 6, but the operator directs visitors to floor 5 for the box office and main entry, followed by security and bag checks on floor 5M. Check the entry instructions for your event.

Can I bring shopping bags or luggage to a UOB Live concert?

Check the venue guidelines and your event’s rules before travelling. Large bags are restricted. The venue lists rental lockers on floor 5M, but their listing does not guarantee space for your bag. Confirm size and availability rather than arriving with luggage on that assumption.
