Bangkok, at your own pace
Booking a Bangkok Airbnb stay with American Express
American Express and Airbnb introduced a new booking route on 22 October 2026. For eligible US cardmembers considering Bangkok, the useful distinction is where the booking begins and which benefit applies. An Airbnb listing link and an Amex Travel booking can lead to different rewards.

Check your card and the booking conditions
The announced programme covers US American Express cardmembers. It does not establish the same benefits for a card issued in Thailand or another country. Rewards depend on the card and its eligibility. Amex’s terms require payment in full using the eligible US card, and the cardmember must stay at the property. The Airbnb and American Express online accounts must be linked under the same name. Only selected homes are available through the route, and availability can change. The terms limit a booking through this route to 27 consecutive nights.

Match the reward to your card
For qualifying prepaid Airbnb bookings started through Amex Travel, the published rates are 5X Membership Rewards points for eligible US Consumer and Business Platinum cards, 3X for the US Consumer Classic Green Card, and 2X for other eligible Membership Rewards-enrolled cards. Check which earning rate applies to your card and booking.
Start a qualifying booking through Amex Travel
Open the Homes search at AmexTravel.com or in the Amex Travel app. Enter Bangkok, your dates and the people staying. Find the exact property and review the total price, house rules and cancellation terms. Follow the account-linking steps and check the eligible payment method before confirming. Being listed on Airbnb does not by itself establish that a home appears in this search or qualifies for a particular benefit.

Keep Airbnb Luxe credits separate
Points on qualifying rentals and credits for Airbnb Luxe are different benefits. For eligible US Platinum card accounts, the published lodging credit can total up to US$600 annually, divided into up to US$300 in each half of the year. The Airbnb part requires an eligible prepaid Luxe booking of at least two consecutive nights through Amex Travel. A qualifying Luxe booking can also unlock a separate credit of up to US$250 for eligible Airbnb Experiences for the remaining calendar year. These credits do not apply to every Airbnb home. We have not verified CAVE 53 or HAUS 924 as Airbnb Luxe properties or as available in the Amex Travel catalogue.
Look at the homes before choosing a route
CAVE 53 is a private one-bedroom home in Punnawithi, with a planted courtyard and rear garden. It is mostly level, with small steps and no staircase. HAUS 924 is a private three-bedroom home in Ekkamai, with shared living and dining spaces across five floors connected by stairs, without a lift. The links below open their regular Airbnb listings so you can review the rooms, rules and dates. They do not start a benefit-qualifying Amex Travel booking. If you want an Amex benefit, return to Amex Travel and check the exact home and booking against the current terms before paying.

Use the route that matches your reason for booking
You can book directly on Airbnb under the listing’s terms, or use Amex Travel when the exact property and your card meet the benefit conditions. Amex says ordinary direct Airbnb bookings do not receive the new bonus points, with an exception for the Classic Green Card’s applicable travel earning terms. After a booking made through Amex Travel, use Airbnb to message the host and manage changes or cancellation. Review the confirmed reservation and its cancellation policy before changing your plans.
Useful questions
Do Thai-issued American Express cards receive these benefits?
The programme described here is for US cardmembers. Do not assume a Thai-issued card has the same earning rate or credits. Check the terms for your card’s issuing country with American Express.
Will clicking the Airbnb links here give me 5X points?
These links open regular Airbnb listings. They do not establish an Amex bonus. For the published 5X route, an eligible cardmember must make a qualifying prepaid booking through Amex Travel under the current terms.
Are HAUS 924 and CAVE 53 eligible for the Luxe credits?
We have not verified either home’s Airbnb Luxe status or inclusion in the Amex Travel catalogue. The photographs and listing links here show the homes and do not confirm benefit eligibility.
Can I use Membership Rewards Pay with Points at checkout?
The current Amex FAQ says Pay with Points is not available for these Airbnb bookings through Amex Travel. Earning points and redeeming them are separate questions. Check American Express for the redemption choices available to your account.
